Yes, McClaren should be sacked, no question of that. However, anybody who watched that actual game last night will have seen a lacklustre performance by a group of players that obviously could not care less whether they qualified or not or whether they won or not. Other than Peter Crouch, I think most of those playing last night should be sacked too.

This is a real low point for English football and it is going to take a lot of hard work to turn it around, starting with appointing a decent manager would set the ball rolling nicely. I do not want to predict who will or who should be the next manager but lets just hope that whoever it is, actually has some experience of winning trophies, can motivate his players and doesn’t keep changing formations every time the wind changes direction!
